Philadelphia Union 'set the standard' as Milan Iloski hat-trick sinks Orlando City

Philadelphia Union make MLS history with sixth straight win

The MLS history books had some new names written into them after Saturday's results, and few shone brighter than Milan Iloski. The Philadelphia Union forward was the hat-trick hero as his side claimed a 4-2 victory over Orlando City SC, stretching their winning streak to six games and their unbeaten run to 12.

Philadelphia were missing some of their young United States stars, including Cavan Sullivan, but Iloski stepped up in style, netting a brilliant hat-trick inside 51 minutes, with Indiana Vassilev also getting on the scoresheet. The 27-year-old's first goal came from the penalty spot before Vassilev set up his other two strikes on either side of getting on the scoresheet himself.

Orlando attempted a late fightback, with Ivan Angulo scoring their first goal in the 78th minute before Martin Ojeda netted their second in the 90th minute. But Philadelphia were dominant throughout and moved up to sixth in the Eastern Conference after the victory.

"A lot of hard work. We made sure we set that standard first," Iloski, who became only the third player in Philadelphia's history to score multiple hat-tricks in the same season, told Apple TV. "Of course, scoring a hat-trick is great. But a lot of guys really stepped up and played really well.

"So, it is a full team effort, and we really showed our depth. It is a big performance for the team."

Philadelphia also entered the MLS record books thanks to their post-World Cup form, having racked up 32 points over their last 12 games — matching the Seattle Sounders for the most points in any 12-game span in league history.
