Nikita Haikin slams Viking FK's 'unacceptable' antics in 3-3 draw with Bayern Munich

Bodø/Glimt keeper says Viking crossed the line against Bayern

Bodø/Glimt goalkeeper Nikita Haikin has criticised the antics of Viking FK players during their 3-3 draw with Bayern Munich on Tuesday.

Speaking to TV channel Nettavisen, Haikin acknowledged the achievement of earning a point against Bayern but said the manner of the result left him uneasy.

“First of all, earning a point is impressive. They played against the best team in the world, in my opinion,” he said. “But I think we have to remember that, first and foremost, we are athletes, right? And there are a lot of young people watching us.”

Haikin added:

“There were many moments yesterday that, for me were unacceptable. We have to respect one another; we have to show respect.”

The comments followed Bodø’s Norwegian rivals playing on the edge of the rules and managing to get Bayern’s Michael Olise sent off on the night.

Asked if he would have done the same thing to get a result against Bayern, Haikin remained firm on his stance.

“No. For me, it’s unacceptable. So, yes, it finished 3-3, [and they take] one point – congratulations to them [Viking FK]. But it was one point, not a win. We have to remember that too,” said Haikin, whose team lost 5-0 to Bayern back on Matchday 1.
