RB Leipzig players in action ahead of Bayern Munich clash

Speaking after Leipzig’s 1-0 win against PSV Eindhoven on Tuesday night, goalkeeper Maarten Vandevoordt explained how recent results have instilled new confidence in the squad.

“When you win, you’re always in a flow,” the Dutchman said. “The energy in the team and in the locker room is very good right now. We have to build on that and not give up.”

RB Leipzig have scored 15 Bundesliga goals this term, 14 of which have come at the Red Bull Arena. But without a win in their two away games in the division this season, the Saxony club travel to the Allianz Arena ready for the challenge ahead.

“We musn’t be afraid,” Vandevoordt added. “We’re a great team. We have to approach these games positively and help each other in every moment. I’m very confident and looking forward to these games.”

Demichelis wants courage, not defence

RB Leipzig head coach Martin Demichelis added: “We’re not going there to defend. Instead, we have to be courageous and go onto the pitch with a clear plan.”

RBL do have previous at the Allianz Arena. In 2023 they won 3-1 in the Bundesliga – with Christopher Nkunku on the scoresheet – and 3-0 in the Supercup.

Notably, the Frenchman is flourishing on his return to the club, having scored four and created one in five Bundesliga games, while developing an excellent partnership with Antonio Nusa, who has three goals and a further three assists in the division.
