Forest Green allow Robbie Savage to speak to Peterborough over vacant manager's job
Forest Green Rovers have granted manager Robbie Savage permission to speak to another club, amid strong speculation linking him with the vacant managerial post at Peterborough United.
The National League side confirmed that Savage will not be in the dugout for Tuesday night's home game against Wealdstone as the situation develops.
Asked on Saturday whether he had received any contact from Peterborough, Savage did not deny the speculation but stopped short of confirming anything. "I don't know, I've got a game to prepare for and I'm really excited to watch my team," he told BBC Radio Gloucestershire.
Savage, 51, was appointed at Forest Green on 1 July 2025, in what is his first managerial role in the top five tiers of English football, having previously managed non-league Macclesfield Town. As a player, the former Wales international midfielder turned out for Derby County, Birmingham City, Leicester City and Blackburn Rovers.
Under his guidance, Forest Green finished seventh in the National League last season but were beaten in the play-off eliminators. This campaign they currently sit 12th after 10 matches, with four wins, two draws and four defeats.
Peterborough are searching for a new manager after sacking Luke Williams on 19 September following a poor start to the season. Posh are currently 23rd in League One, having managed just one win in their first eight league games.
