Barcelona pay tribute to Lionel Messi following stunning MLS free-kick

La Liga giants Barcelona took to social media to showcase their enduring admiration for club legend Lionel Messi following the Argentine maestro's latest moment of brilliance for Inter Miami.

Inter Miami were in Major League Soccer action against Columbus Crew in Ohio, and despite falling to a 2-1 defeat, Messi still managed to deliver a signature piece of magic.

With Inter Miami trailing 1-0 during the first half, the eight-time Ballon d'Or winner stepped up to take a free-kick from a challenging, tight angle. Messi curled a sumptuous effort over the defensive line and beyond everyone in the box, nestling the ball directly into the far top corner.

The sublime strike drew immediate applause worldwide, with Barcelona quickly paying homage to their greatest-ever player. Alongside a video highlighting Messi's iconic Champions League free-kick against Liverpool from 2019, the Catalan club posted a simple and fitting message:

"Some things never change"

Even across the Atlantic, Messi's peerless set-piece ability continues to captivate football fans and his former club alike.
