Laura Wolvaardt Smashes Record 126 Against Zimbabwe to Equal Smriti Mandhana's All-Time Century Mark

South Africa captain Laura Wolvaardt produced a record-breaking batting masterclass to power her side to an emphatic 80-run victory over Zimbabwe in the third T20I, taking an unassailable 3-0 lead in the five-match series and reaching a historic personal milestone in women's international cricket.

Laura Wolvaardt hits a record-breaking century against Zimbabwe

Wolvaardt blasted an unbeaten 126 off just 62 deliveries, registering an astonishing strike rate of 203.22. Her knock included 16 boundaries and four sixes as she dismantled the Zimbabwe bowling attack, driving South Africa to a mammoth total of 200/1 in their 20 overs.

Joining Mandhana at the Top

The innings marked Wolvaardt's fourth T20I century and the 18th hundred of her international career across all formats. With this feat, the 27-year-old Proteas skipper drew level with India star Smriti Mandhana at the summit of the women's international century chart.

Wolvaardt also rewrote the South African record books during her dominant stay at the crease. She surpassed her own previous best T20I score of 115 not out against Ireland and eclipsed Shandre Fritz's long-standing South African women's record of 116 not out, set against the Netherlands in 2010, to record the highest individual score by a South African woman in T20I cricket.

Dominant Team Performance Seals Series

Wicketkeeper-batter Karabo Meso offered solid support at the other end, compiling an unbeaten 50 from 51 deliveries as the pair shared an uninterrupted century stand to put the game out of Zimbabwe's reach.

In response, Zimbabwe's chase faltered early under intense pressure. The hosts collapsed inside the powerplay and found themselves reeling at 35/6. Despite middle-order cameos from Michelle Mavunga (41 off 23 balls) and Nyasha Gwanzura (28), the hosts were bundled out for 120.

South African bowler Annerie Dercksen wrapped up the contest by claiming her maiden five-wicket haul in T20Is, finishing with exceptional figures of 5/15. Wolvaardt was named Player of the Match for her historic performance as South Africa clinched the series with two games to spare.
