Barcelona equal best start to league season with eight wins from eight

FC Barcelona's win against Getafe on Matchday 8 has written the club into the record books once again: the three points mean Barcelona have won their first eight league games of the season, matching the best start to a league campaign in club history — previously set in the 2013/14 season, when Barça also won eight from eight.

The victory was hard-earned. Getafe arrived at Camp Nou with their trademark physical approach, having scored only four goals in their first seven league games of the 2026-27 season, and Barcelona had to negotiate a demanding stretch of five matches in two weeks.

The result keeps Barcelona top of the table as they turn their attention to Europe, where they face their first away trip of this season's Champions League campaign.
