Hasan Mahmud's 6-wicket haul bowls Australia out for 198

Clinical Display by Bangladesh Seamers

Bangladesh's bowling unit dominated the opening day of the Test against Australia in Darwin, skittling the hosts for 198. The standout performer was Hasan Mahmud, who ripped through the Australian order to claim a career-best 6-55.

Australia appeared to be in a strong position early on, reaching 45 for no loss. However, the momentum shifted rapidly when Mahmud struck twice in consecutive overs, dismissing Jake Weatherald for 23 and Travis Head for 22.

Supporting Cast and Resistance

The pressure was maintained throughout the first two sessions by Taskin Ahmed (2-55) and Ebadot Hossain (2-39), who both exploited the green-tinged surface superbly. Steve Smith provided the only significant resistance for Australia, scoring a fighting 71 to keep the total respectable.

The disciplined pace attack from Bangladesh ensured a dominant start to the match, leaving Australia struggling after being bowled out for 198.
