Deol lands in Barbados to bolster Tridents' overseas ranks

India batter Harleen Deol has signed with defending champions Barbados Tridents for the remainder of the 2026 Women's Caribbean Premier League (WCPL) season, marking her debut in the Caribbean competition.

The 28-year-old has travelled to Barbados and joins the Tridents as their fifth overseas player. With Deol not part of either the senior India or India 'A' squads, she is expected to remain with the franchise through the tournament, giving the Tridents a settled batting option for the remainder of the campaign.

Indian influence grows across WCPL 2026

Deol's arrival further strengthens the Indian presence in WCPL 2026, with five of the 20 overseas berths now occupied by Indian players. She joins compatriots Kiran Navgire and Pooja Vastrakar in the Tridents squad, while Shikha Pandey and Yastika Bhatia are representing Trinbago Knight Riders across the competition.

Deol brings considerable experience to the Tridents, having made 28 T20I appearances for India, scoring 311 runs from 20 innings at a strike rate of 92.01. Her most recent outing for the national team came in March against Australia. The right-handed batter has also been a familiar face in the Women's Premier League, featuring for the Gujarat Giants and the UP Warriorz, amassing 649 runs from 28 games at a strike-rate of 115.68.

Tridents looking to bounce back

Barbados opened their title defence with a 21-run defeat to Trinbago Knight Riders on September 5, and Deol's availability comes at a timely moment as the franchise seeks to turn its campaign around. The Tridents have two fixtures coming up this weekend, facing Jamaica Empress on Saturday before taking on Guyana Amazon Warriors on Sunday.
