Inter seize sole Serie A lead with 3-1 Bologna fightback as Chivu's rage pays off

Inter refuse to buckle again in Bologna

Cristian Chivu's Inter have made a habit of digging themselves out of holes this season, and their trip to Bologna produced a fourth fightback in seven games as they ran out 3-1 winners to claim sole leadership of Serie A.

La Gazzetta dello Sport led its front page with the Nerazzurri, noting that Inter "have still not lost in Italy" and sit "on their own in the lead in Serie A." Corriere dello Sport described a side that were second best before the break — "Palladino dominated in the first half" — only for Chivu to "turn it around in the second with his substitutions."

Bologna, coached by Vincenzo Palladino, struck first through Tommaso Pobega, who also hit the woodwork, while Enem spurned a chance to make it 2-0. Marcus Thuram revived Inter before the interval, scoring in the 44th minute, and the introduction of Carlos Augusto and Ange-Yoan Bonny proved decisive as both substitutes found the target to seal the 3-1 comeback.

The Corriere highlighted the scale of Inter's resilience: "Nobody like the Nerazzurri in Europe: 10 points recovered from losing positions." Chivu, according to La Gazzetta, was hoarse from the touchline — "Chivu's rage (he lost his voice)."

Tuttosport framed it as a statement of intent: "Inter remain top in Italy, worrying first half, then they score three. Strong comeback in Bologna. Thuram responds to Pobega."
