He looked big: Kylie Kelce tells Michelle Obama how she swiped right on Jason on Tinder

Kylie Kelce says physical presence and sarcasm sealed the swipe

Kylie Kelce has revealed why she swiped right on former Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce, telling former First Lady Michelle Obama and her brother Craig Robinson on their IMO podcast that her first impression was simply: “He looked big.”

At 5-foot-11, Kelce said height mattered to her. “It [height] is [important]. There is something about being as tall as I am my whole life…” she said. When Jason was placed alongside other people in photos, his size stood out, prompting her to think, “Oh, large.”

Jason, 6-foot-3, had not listed his exact height on the profile, which Kelce said made her curious. A second hook was his dating bio, which featured enjoying long conversations about emotions and having children, delivered with sarcastic humour that she found hard to ignore.

Cheeky first messages and a catfish check

Kylie and Jason met on Tinder in 2015, when he was playing center for the Philadelphia Eagles and she was in college. Kelce made the first move with a cheeky line: “If I told you I work for UPS, would you let me handle your package?”

Jason reportedly replied with a meager, “Yes.” An early ice-breaker followed: “I’ve fallen. I need Life Alert. I’ve fallen for you, and I can’t get up.”

Skeptical of being catfished, Kylie searched for him online and asked friend Amber to help vet him. Amber urged her to meet him, saying, “This would be great for the story! If it’s him, funny. If it’s not him, even funnier. We should go find out.” He turned out to be genuine.

An awkward first date

Their first in-person meeting was not a rom-com moment. Jason fell asleep for 45 minutes after drinking too much. He later admitted on the New Heights podcast: “I was sober enough to know she was the most beautiful woman I had ever seen in my life. It was love at first sight.”

From swipe to family

Kylie made their relationship Instagram-official in 2015 with the caption, “Thank goodness you swiped right too.” The couple became engaged in August 2017 in his car as they left her parents’ house, married in April 2018, and have four daughters: Wyatt Elizabeth Kelce, born October 2019; Elliotte Ray Kelce, born March 2021; Bennett Llewellyn Kelce, born February 2023; and Finnley “Finn” Anne Kelce, born March 2025.

February 2023 also saw Jason face his younger brother Travis Kelce’s team in the Super Bowl. Travis won the game, while Jason celebrated a personal win two weeks later with the birth of Bennett.
