Pakistan docked 11 WTC points and 50% match fee fine after England whitewash as Babar Azam demands reflection
The sanctions
Pakistan's tour of England ended in humiliation on the field — and the misery has now spilled off it. In the fallout from the 0-3 sweep, Pakistan have been docked 11 World Test Championship points and hit with a fine of 50 per cent of their match fees, with the punishment reportedly tied to over-rate breaches during the series.
The WTC fallout
The deductions have reshuffled the World Test Championship points table, with England's maximum haul from the whitewash boosting their position and India's place in the standings among the key talking points as the cycle intensifies.
Babar's record and his warning
Amid the wreckage, Babar Azam did find personal consolation, entering the record books with a major World Test Championship feat against England. But the star batter was in no mood for comfort, demanding sweeping changes across the setup.
'We need to sit down and reflect on our mistakes,' Babar said in the wake of Pakistan's 0-3 England sweep.
Salman Ali Agha's response
If Babar's words were the contemplative answer, Salman Ali Agha provided the defiant one. The Pakistan batter answered the England setback in the best way he could — with the bat — smashing a maiden triple century he described as 'once in a lifetime'.
