Mourinho says Cancelo should have seen red in Real Madrid’s 2-1 Clasico win
Mourinho questions VAR after Madrid’s Clasico victory
Jose Mourinho said Joao Cancelo should have been sent off for a second-half foul on Yan Diomande during Real Madrid’s 2-1 win over Barcelona, claiming the video assistant referee failed to intervene.

“In the 60th minute the VAR was sleeping. There was a clear red card for Cancelo on Diomandé that would have changed the match,” Mourinho said at a post-match news conference.
The Madrid manager also praised the quality of the contest and his side’s performance. “First of all, it was a great match, a high-level game, one that surely everyone who loves football stopped to watch, with two teams that played to win,” he said.
He added that his players had been “extraordinary,” describing them as organized and focused, and praising their courage in playing out from the back against Barcelona’s pressing.
The result handed Barcelona their first La Liga defeat of the season. Real Madrid remain third in the standings, three points behind Barcelona.
