Amorim hails Milan’s response as Pulisic and Hutchinson seal Udinese win

Milan recover from European setback

Ruben Amorim praised AC Milan’s response after they put Thursday’s 3-0 Europa League loss to Bournemouth behind them with a 2-0 win over Udinese in Serie A on Sunday.

Christian Pulisic and Omari Hutchinson scored as Milan returned to winning ways. The result extended Amorim’s unbeaten start in Serie A to eight matches, a run the source report says has been matched only twice by Milan in the previous 20 top-flight seasons: 2020-21 and 2021-22.

‘Really happy and really proud’

“I am really happy for them and really proud, because everything we talked about before the game, being competitive from the first minute, I think we did that today,” Amorim told DAZN, as quoted by Football Italia. He added that Milan controlled the game even as the players tired in the second half.

Amorim also praised the squad’s ability to cope with a packed schedule and a significant injury list. Sankhoun Diawara and Fikayo Tomori made their first league starts of the season as the coach rotated his side.

“My job is not just to prepare to win the next game, that is what people want, but my job is also to help Milan in the future,” Amorim said. “For that, they need to play, they need to have the opportunity and feel that they are important.”

He said Milan had barely been able to train over the preceding three weeks and were instead working through matches, video and team meetings. “I am proud of these lads, because they are paying attention to everything,” he said.

Busy week ahead

Milan were fourth in Serie A, four points behind leaders Inter, according to the report. They were due to host Bologna on Wednesday before facing Inter on Saturday.
