Gattuso Warns Lazio Squad: 'Nobody Ruins My Training Sessions'

Gattuso Demands Honesty — But Not at Training's Expense

Gennaro Gattuso has made clear that he prizes honesty from his Lazio squad above all else — even when that honesty means admitting to a night out — but insists no player will be allowed to disrupt his training sessions.

Speaking at his press conference ahead of Saturday's home game against Parma, with Lazio bidding to stay joint top of Serie A alongside Inter, the coach reiterated the uncompromising standards he has enforced since taking charge in the summer.

"I prefer intellectual honesty. If someone tells me they had one drink too many or had a night out, fine, but I won't allow anyone to ruin a training session," Gattuso said via TuttoMercatoWeb. "My office door is always open."

The comments underline the culture Gattuso has sought to build at the club, where he has spoken repeatedly about forging a tight-knit group built on determination rather than big spending. After Lazio's commanding 3-0 win at Juventus earlier this month, he credited his squad's work ethic and described the team as "a real family unit."

Injury Updates: Gudmundsson, Rovella and Marušić

Gattuso also provided an update on his injured players, stressing that he would rather wait than risk a relapse by rushing them back.

"For Albert, we hope to see him running without pain in 10 days, and hopefully he'll be available before Napoli," he said. "Rovella and Marušić should do partial sessions with us in four or five days if there are no problems, and then they'll be available."

Both Nicolò Rovella and Adam Marušić have been out for several weeks, and Lazio's medical staff have confirmed the pair will also miss the trip to Sassuolo next week. Albert Gudmundsson remains on a separate recovery timeline as the club manages his return carefully.

No Room for Complacency Against Parma

Lazio head into the weekend on the back of their emphatic 3-0 victory at Juventus, but Gattuso was quick to warn his players against any hint of complacency against Alberto Gilardino's Parma side.

"If we drop off, Parma will give us a hiding to remember," he warned.

The result at Juventus — Gattuso's first win there since he began coaching — has lifted Lazio level at the top of the Serie A table with Inter, adding extra significance to Saturday's fixture as they look to keep pace at the summit.
