Lampard warns Coventry not to ease up after revival
Sky Blues manager demands more after back-to-back wins
Frank Lampard has urged Coventry to maintain their intensity after a pair of victories brought a sharp change in momentum following a difficult start to their return to the Premier League.
The Sky Blues lost their opening four matches without scoring, but wins against Nottingham Forest and Newcastle have given the team a platform to rebuild. Lampard said the results were welcome but would not prompt him to lower expectations or ease the workload.
“Keep driving it,” Lampard said. “It’s very important to look at the good things out of the game, also the things we can improve.”
He said the players understood his approach and that of his staff, but cautioned that the league left little room for complacency. “I’m always fearful of resting on something and thinking that you’ve made it. This league’s too difficult for that,” he said.
Lampard’s immediate task, he added, was to keep pushing the squad forward and ensure the recent results become the beginning of sustained progress rather than a reason to relax.
