Aalyah Gutierrez signs with WWE Performance Center as Mysterio wrestling dynasty reaches third generation
The Mysterio family's grip on WWE is tightening once more. Aalyah Gutierrez, the daughter of WWE Hall of Famer Rey Mysterio, has officially signed with the company and joined its newest rookie class, the promotion announced today.
A new recruit at the Performance Center
Gutierrez will begin training at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida, as one of several recruits drawn from either wrestling backgrounds or other sports. For the daughter of a WWE legend, it is a landmark step.
"It's a huge step for the daughter of WWE Hall of Famer Rey Mysterio," the company noted, pointing to her prior visibility in family-related storylines on television. WWE specifically highlighted her appearance at WrestleMania 39, where she was at ringside for Rey Mysterio's match against Dominik Mysterio.
Unlike earlier cameo appearances alongside her father and brother, the Performance Center role marks the start of a formal development path within WWE. "Her move to WWE training keeps the family's connection to pro wrestling active," the company said, describing it as "the start of a more official line of development in WWE, not just a companion appearance with her father or brother."
From lucha libre roots to a global sensation
The family's story predates WWE. Rey Mysterio was trained by his uncle, Rey Mysterio Sr., a well-known name in Mexican lucha libre who also mentored future wrestlers. That influence shaped the younger Mysterio's distinctive, high-flying style and deep tie to tradition.
Rey Mysterio carried that lucha libre heritage onto the international stage. His masked persona, aerial approach and lengthy WWE career made him one of the most recognizable luchadores in American professional wrestling and a future Hall of Famer.
Dominik's father-son saga and championship run
The legacy then passed to his son. Dominik Mysterio entered WWE and, together with his father, made history as the first father-son duo in the company to win the Tag Team Championship. But the partnership soon fractured.
Dominik joined The Judgment Day in 2022 after teaming with Rey, turning on his father to ignite one of WWE's biggest family-based feuds. The rivalry reached its peak in a singles match at WrestleMania 39, where Rey defeated Dominik. The storyline pulled in other members of the Mysterio family, placing Aalyah at the center of the emotional conflict.
Since then, Dominik has built a separate career. His official WWE profile lists championship reigns as Intercontinental Champion, SmackDown Tag Team Champion and NXT North American Champion.
A legacy spanning three generations
The Mysterio family story has taken another turn with Aalyah entering WWE's formal training program. Rey started the legacy, Dominik turned it into a father-son WWE saga, and Aalyah's arrival at the Performance Center opens a new path for the next generation.
