A Timely Boost for Bangladesh

Bangladesh has received a significant boost ahead of their highly anticipated two-Test series against Australia. Veteran wicketkeeper-batter Litton Das is set to return to the national squad after successfully recovering from a left calf injury that had sidelined him since June.

According to the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), the 31-year-old has completed his rehabilitation and will travel to Darwin this Sunday to join his teammates. His return is critical for the visitors, who are currently dealing with several injury setbacks, including the absence of young fast bowler Nahid Rana and Shoriful Islam for the first Test.

Historic Challenge in Australia

This series represents a historic milestone for Bangladesh cricket, as the team prepares to play a Test match on Australian soil for the first time in 23 years. To prepare for the challenge, the squad will participate in a three-day warm-up match against a Cricket Australia XI in Darwin from August 6 to 8.

The tour schedule is as follows:

• First Test: August 13-17 at Marrara Cricket Ground, Darwin.
• Second Test: August 22-26 at Great Barrier Reef Arena, Mackay.

New Leadership Responsibilities

Litton's return to the Test fold comes just days after he was appointed as Bangladesh's ODI captain. He takes over the reins from Mehidy Hasan Miraz, who stepped down following a 2-1 ODI series defeat to Zimbabwe. Litton, who is already the T20I captain, will now lead the 50-over side as the team builds toward the 2027 ICC Men's Cricket World Cup.

A veteran of 104 ODIs, Litton brings a wealth of experience with 2,869 runs, including five centuries and 14 half-centuries. He previously captained the side in seven ODIs, securing three victories.
