Inter to hand Carlos Augusto new deal until 2031 after four goals in seven games

Inter are preparing to reward Carlos Augusto with a new and improved contract after the Brazilian defender's explosive start to the 2026-27 season, with reports in Italy indicating an agreement could be wrapped up within a fortnight.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport and multiple other Italian outlets, the 27-year-old is set to be handed fresh terms that would run until the summer of 2031, extending well beyond his current deal, which is due to expire in 2028.

The Pink Paper expects the agreement to be finalised by the end of the month, reporting that it will be a 'maximum' of 15 days before Carlos Augusto puts pen to paper.

A breakthrough campaign at San Siro

It has been an enjoyable start to the new campaign on an individual level for the Brazilian, who has registered six goal involvements in his last seven appearances for the Nerazzurri. Across Serie A and the Champions League, Carlos Augusto has scored four goals and provided four assists from seven matches.

His latest contribution was arguably his most important yet. On Tuesday night he scored the crucial goal that sent a 10-man Inter towards a much-needed 1-0 victory over Shakhtar Donetsk in Europe, a result that underlined his growing value to the side.

From understudy to undroppable

Carlos Augusto has largely served as an understudy since joining Inter from Monza in 2023, rotating with Alessandro Bastoni and Federico Dimarco both on the left of the back three and at left wing-back.

La Gazzetta dello Sport writes that, after such an impressive start to the 2026-27 season, it will be difficult for the Nerazzurri to keep the Brazilian as a rotation option for much longer. The club's willingness to tie him down to a long-term deal appears to reflect precisely that shift in status.

With the renewal expected to be completed imminently, Inter look set to secure the future of a player who has quietly become one of the most productive members of their squad this term.
