Blessin warns Gladbach not to pile pressure on teenage star Wael Mohya
Blessin praises Mohya’s fearless approach
Borussia Mönchengladbach coach Alexander Blessin has praised teenage attacking midfielder Wael Mohya ahead of Friday’s Bundesliga visit to VfB Stuttgart, while warning that the club must not place too much responsibility on the 17-year-old.
“He’s a very young guy who’s open and laughs, he doesn’t care too much about pressure,” Blessin said. He also highlighted Mohya’s ability to take on opponents: “His ability to relieve pressure in one-on-one situations is crucial.”
Mohya made his Bundesliga debut in December 2025 at 16 years, 11 months and 12 days. He has since made 24 appearances for Gladbach across all competitions, scoring four goals and providing one assist, according to the report.
Gladbach seek first points of the season
Blessin said Mohya brings a welcome sense of freedom to the side, but stressed that the youngster should not be left to carry the team. “He gives us a carefree attitude which is important, but dumping all the burden on him would be the wrong approach,” he said.
Gladbach head to Stuttgart looking for their first points of the 2026/27 Bundesliga season after losing their opening six league matches.
