Swansea City Thrash Sheffield Wednesday 4-0 as Matos Lauds Team's Mindset
Swansea City's Dominant Display Secures Vital Win
Swansea City continued their impressive home form in the Championship by demolishing Sheffield Wednesday 4-0, marking their sixth win in seven home games this season. The match at the Swansea.com Stadium highlighted the Swans' resurgence under head coach Vitor Matos, propelling them within five points of the top six.

The scoring began in the 19th minute when Goncalo Franco broke the deadlock with a well-executed team move. In the second half, Zan Vipotnik, the league's top scorer with 15 goals this season, added a brace within nine minutes, including a stunning free-kick. Brighton loanee Malick Yalcouye sealed the rout late on with his first goal for Swansea, ensuring a clean sheet for the hosts.
Matos Praises 'Right Mindset'
Post-match, Matos was full of praise for his side's approach. "It was a game where we showed the right mindset," he said. "We knew it was a game where we needed to set the right tone in terms of intensity, in terms of dominance. I think we showed that. We scored the goal, which helped us to calm down and have better control of the game. I think it was a good game – clean sheet, goals, I am really happy."
Sheffield Wednesday's Winless Streak Continues
For Sheffield Wednesday, the defeat extended their miserable run to eight successive league losses, making unwanted history by going nine games without scoring a goal—a first for the club. Despite trailing safety by 39 points with 15 matches left, head coach Henrik Pedersen found some positives. "We saw a positive energy in the first 19 minutes," he noted. "We had good pressing situations, good sequences on the ball. Then, they scored the goal, they played through us. After the goal, they got more confident on the ball and started to move us around. We wanted to be compact, but it was difficult for us. It was tough to press really tight against them. In the second half, we came out with good energy and started to win balls high up the pitch, but we also lost balls. The biggest challenge today was that when we won the ball, we also lost the ball. We didn't create what we wanted."
