Cricket South Africa (CSA) has announced a revised schedule for the Indian women's team's upcoming tour in December, expanding the itinerary to include a three-match T20 International series alongside the previously planned One Day Internationals and a one-off Test match.

The decision to add the T20I leg is strategically aimed at preparing the South African squad for the inaugural ICC Women's Champions Trophy, scheduled to take place in Sri Lanka in February. By competing across all three formats, the Proteas Women will gain critical experience against one of the world's most formidable teams.

CSA CEO Pholetsi Moseki expressed enthusiasm over the updated plans, stating: “We are delighted to confirm the revised schedule for India’s tour of South Africa, with the addition of the T20 International series over the festive period, ensuring our Proteas Women have the best possible preparation ahead of the inaugural ICC Women’s Champions Trophy in Sri Lanka early next year.”

Moseki further emphasized the importance of the matchup, adding, “India remain one of the strongest teams in world cricket, and the opportunity to compete against them across all three formats will provide invaluable competition as we continue building towards another major ICC event.”

Revised Tour Schedule

The tour will now begin with the one-off Test match in Gqeberha before transitioning to the limited-overs matches in various cities across South Africa.

This series follows a challenging period for India, who suffered a 4-1 defeat in a T20I series against South Africa in April and another loss to the Proteas during the T20 World Cup in Manchester, resulting in a group stage exit.
