End of an Era for Saurashtra

Dharmendrasinh Jadeja, a cornerstone of Saurashtra cricket for the past 13 years, is set to depart the state. The 36-year-old left-arm spinner has officially obtained a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Saurashtra Cricket Association (SCA) and is expected to represent Chhattisgarh in the upcoming domestic season.

Jadeja's departure follows strategic discussions between the SCA, team management, and the player. While the SCA and management believed the veteran should pivot his focus primarily toward red-ball cricket, Jadeja expressed a strong desire to remain active in the white-ball setup. This difference in perspective ultimately led to the decision for him to seek a move.

Jadeja leaves behind a formidable legacy. A key member of Saurashtra's Ranji Trophy-winning squads in 2019-20 and 2022-23, he has claimed 423 wickets across 100 first-class matches. Notably, since the 2017-18 season, no bowler has surpassed his 293 wickets in the Ranji Trophy. In addition to his red-ball success, he has featured in 90 List A matches and 73 T20s.

“We wish him the best,” stated an official from the Saurashtra Cricket Association.

Widespread Shuffles Across States

The domestic circuit is witnessing significant movement as several other players change affiliations. Odisha is set to strengthen its ranks by recruiting two professionals: Lalit Yadav from Vidarbha and Ninad Rathva from Baroda. Both the 29-year-old off-spinning all-rounder Yadav and the 27-year-old all-rounder Rathva have secured NOCs from their respective associations (VCA and BCA).

Further updates from state associations confirm that Rajneesh Gurbani has returned to his home state of Vidarbha after a stint with Maharashtra. Additionally, Shashank Singh has completed a move from Chhattisgarh to Puducherry.
