End of an Era for Coaching Duo

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has expressed its gratitude to assistant coach Ryan ten Doeschate and fielding coach T Dilip following the conclusion of their tenures with the Indian men's team. The board highlighted the significant roles both professionals played in the team's recent trajectory and success.

In a heartfelt tribute posted on X, the BCCI acknowledged the duo's commitment: "Thank you, Assistant Coach Ryan ten Doeschate and Fielding Coach T Dilip, for your invaluable contributions to #TeamIndia. Your dedication, professionalism and tireless efforts behind the scenes have played a big role in the team's journey and success. Wishing you both every success in the next chapter of your careers," the board wrote.

T Dilip's Impact on Fielding

T Dilip's second stint with the national side ended upon the expiration of his one-year contract. Having first served as the men's fielding coach from 2021 through the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy, he returned for the 2025 Test tour of England but was not retained thereafter.

Dilip is credited with significantly elevating India's fielding standards. Most notably, he introduced the 'Best Fielder of the Match' medal during the 2023 ICC Cricket World Cup—a dressing-room tradition that became a hit with fans and players alike, with stars such as Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, and Ravindra Jadeja receiving the honor.

Ten Doeschate's Transition to KKR

Ryan ten Doeschate departed the Indian setup following the white-ball tour of England in July. The 46-year-old former Netherlands captain joined the coaching staff when Gautam Gambhir took over from Rahul Dravid as head coach after the 2024 T20 World Cup victory.

Ten Doeschate was instrumental in the coaching group that led India to the 2025 Asia Cup title and a successful defense of the 2026 ICC Men's T20 World Cup crown. Since leaving the national team, he has transitioned into the role of Head of Cricket Strategy for the Kolkata Knight Riders.

While white-ball success was evident, India's Test results during this period remained mixed, including losses in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy and home series defeats to New Zealand (0-3) and South Africa (0-2).
