Vaibhav Sooryavanshi Sets Ambitious Goal of Scoring 200 in T20s
Rajasthan Royals' teenage batting sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has set his sights on making history in T20 cricket. During a candid interview on former England captain Kevin Pieterson's YouTube show The Switch, the 15-year-old left-hander revealed his ambition to become the first player to score a double century in the shortest format of the game. Sooryavanshi aims to break the record set by West Indies legend Chris Gayle, who holds the current T20 individual score of 175, achieved in 2013 while playing for Royal Challengers Bengaluru.
"I want to score 200 in T20," Sooryavanshi stated on the show. When Pieterson reminded him of Gayle's record, the young prodigy responded confidently: "Yeah, I want to break his record and score 200. If I play 20 overs in any game, I definitely will break that record."
During the same session, Pieterson challenged Sooryavanshi to score 100 runs off 50 deliveries. In a stunning display of power-hitting, the Bihar-born batter achieved the feat in just 25 balls. Sooryavanshi, who already holds a personal best of 144 in T20 cricket, also scored a match-winning 175 in the U19 World Cup final against England. Additionally, he holds the record for the fastest century in youth ODI cricket, having reached his century in just 52 deliveries against England.
"I will try to score 200 in the next match. I will try to play the full 50 overs. The more I score, the more the team will benefit," Sooryavanshi said after his record-breaking innings against England U19 in the final.
With his fearless approach and explosive batting style, Sooryavanshi is quickly gaining attention as one of the most promising talents in cricket. His bold declaration of aiming for a double century in T20 cricket has sparked excitement among fans and experts alike, as they watch to see if he can turn his ambitious goal into reality.
