Amorim says it is 'impossible to have time' at Milan as Salzburg test looms

Ruben Amorim admits that it is "impossible to have time" at AC Milan, as he already feels the pressure ahead of the Europa League trip to RB Salzburg. "We cannot think about the past."

Pressure building on Milan

The match kicks off at the Red Bull Arena in Salzburg on Thursday at 17:45 UK time (18:45 CEST). The Rossoneri are playing catch-up after a dismal 2-0 home defeat to Benfica, while performances in Serie A have not helped their confidence. There is already growing pressure on the former Manchester United coach to deliver, but he is trying to keep the media discussion out of his mind.

Amorim focused on the work

"I don't read papers or watch TV, so that I can focus on my work. We are at the start of something, obviously we want to win more games and have more points. With regards to the rest, it's normal at a big club," Amorim told Sky Sport Italia.

"Every project needs time, but nowadays with football media it is impossible to have a lot of time, so it is necessary to win games. I am not worried about that, I am focused on winning games, everything else that happens around that is not a concern."

Salzburg opener in Europe

RB Salzburg opened their Europa League campaign with a 1-0 victory away to Levski Sofia and are feeling confident going into their first home fixture. Despite it not being the most prestigious competition, Amorim insists Milan must treat it as the biggest test.

"It is always the Champions League, everything is important, every detail, every match is important and difficult. Salzburg are good technically, so we need to be strong on the runs, physically prepared and play our game."

Team morale and selection

Asked how the players are dealing with the growing tension around them this season, Amorim was measured: "The team is fine, of course they felt the silence after the game, but we have so many games that we cannot think about the past, we have to focus on the next match, we are going to try to win the game and do everything we can."

Goncalo Ramos has started all seven matches so far this season, but there are rumours that Francesco Camarda will take over in attack. Amorim would not confirm either way: "Camarda is training well, tomorrow will be another opportunity, I won't tell you if he will start or not, but as I said he will have more minutes from now on. We have a lot of games and will need everyone."

Amorim also praised Christian Comotto: "Christian Comotto is doing really well, we must understand that these players came from the second division, and now they are at Milan, where even a draw becomes a big drama."

"We have many options, I don't know when everyone will have their space, but we have to rotate and sometimes everyone needs a little bit of luck too."
