Barcelona confirm Xavi Espart contract extension until 2030
Barcelona lock down teenage defender in long-term deal
La Liga giants Barcelona have officially confirmed that 19-year-old defender Xavi Espart has put pen to paper on a new contract that will keep him at the Spotify Camp Nou through the summer of 2030.

The club announced the agreement via their official social media platforms and released a formal statement confirming the terms of the extension.
"Contract extension agreement reached between FC Barcelona and the player Xavi Espart, who is now set to stay with the Club through to 30 June 2030," read a club statement. "The Club and player will formally sign the contract at the Club offices in the presence of FC Barcelona president Joan Laporta in the coming days. Once signed, Xavi Espart will speak with the media."
Espart's renewal comes on the back of a brilliant opening to the 2026-27 LaLiga campaign. The Spanish youth international, still just 19, has been switched from his usual berth on the right to the left flank, where he has responded with a string of standout performances. Across five league starts to date, Espart has notched a goal and two assists — enough to establish himself ahead of both João Cancelo and Alejandro Balde in boss Hansi Flick's left-back pecking order.

A versatile La Masia graduate, Espart can also operate at right-back and in midfield, and is now considered a long-term piece of the defensive puzzle at the club.
Manager Hansi Flick has already made clear just how highly he rates the youngster, saying last season that he reminds him of Germany legend Philipp Lahm.
