F1 Legend Ross Brawn Makes Motorsport Return in Strategic MotoGP Role
A New Chapter in Two-Wheeled Racing
Ross Brawn, one of the most influential figures in the history of Formula 1, is swapping four wheels for two. The legendary technical chief and former team principal has officially made his return to the motorsport fold by joining the Board of Directors at the prominent MotoGP outfit, Pramac Racing.
In his new capacity, Brawn will serve as a Strategic Advisor to Team Principal Paolo Campinoti, bringing decades of elite-level racing experience to the MotoGP paddock.
A Legacy of Success
Brawn's pedigree in motorsport is nearly unmatched. During the 1990s and early 2000s, he was instrumental in securing multiple Drivers' and Teams' Championship titles during his time with Benetton and Ferrari. He reached a career pinnacle in 2009, leading his own team, Brawn GP, to a historic championship victory.
This success paved the way for the formation of the Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 Team, which Brawn led as Team Principal until 2013. His leadership laid the critical foundations for Mercedes' dominant era, which saw them secure seven consecutive Drivers' titles and eight Teams' titles by 2021. Most recently, Brawn served as the Managing Director of Motor Sports and Technical Director for Formula One Management from 2017 to 2022.
Vision for the Future
The 71-year-old Brawn expressed his enthusiasm for the transition, emphasizing the human element of racing. “I’m delighted to join the board of Pramac Racing Limited in a non-executive role,” Brawn stated. “Motorsport has always been about people, teamwork and continuous improvement and I look forward to supporting Paolo and the team and contributing where my experience may be useful.”
He further praised the current state of the team, adding, “Pramac has built an impressive organisation with a strong spirit and ambition and I’m excited to be part of its future.”
Paolo Campinoti, the Team Principal of Pramac Racing, welcomed Brawn with high praise, noting their long-standing professional and personal bond. “Beyond his extraordinary career and achievements in Formula 1, Ross is someone with whom I have shared a friendship and a relationship of great respect for many years,” Campinoti said. “I believe that his vision, knowledge and winning mentality will make a valuable contribution to the continued growth and development of Pramac Racing.”
