2026–27 Champions League projected pots take shape ahead of league phase draw

Projected seeding for the 2026-27 league phase

The 2026–27 UEFA Champions League will use the revamped league phase format for a second full season. With domestic campaigns across Europe nearing their decisive stages, projected pots for the league phase draw are beginning to crystallise based on UEFA club coefficients and league qualification places.

2026-27 Champions League projected pots for league phase draw

As per the current projections, Pot 1 is expected to be led by the reigning champions and the top-ranked clubs by coefficient, with the traditional European heavyweights battling for top seeding. Pots 2 to 4 are set to be populated by clubs qualifying via domestic league positions and via the Champions League play-off route, while Pot 4 will include debutants and lower-coefficient qualifiers.

The final composition will be confirmed once all 36 domestic leagues conclude and UEFA publishes the official access list and coefficient rankings. The league phase draw will then set each club’s eight opponents – two from each pot – with the new format continuing to prioritise competitive balance and geographic separation.
