Mercedes Appoints Bradley Lord as New Deputy Team Principal

In a significant leadership update for the Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula One Team, Bradley Lord has been appointed as the new Deputy Team Principal, effective immediately. Lord, who joined the Brackley-based team in 2013 as Communications Manager, has held various key roles over the years, most recently serving as Team Representative and Chief Communications Officer.

The promotion aims to strengthen the senior leadership team as Formula 1 continues to expand. Team Principal and CEO Toto Wolff highlighted the importance of this change, stating, “With the growth of our team and F1, the scope of our operations and associated responsibilities at a senior level has grown significantly. We have therefore taken this opportunity to put in place a change that has effectively been operating in practice for some time.”

Wolff further emphasized the continuity in his role, adding, “While my role and overall responsibilities will not change one millimetre, Bradley’s work as Deputy Team Principal will further enhance the capability of our leadership group and provide continued support for me as our Team Principal and CEO.”

Before joining Mercedes, Lord began his career as a Press Officer for the Benetton team in 2001, later advancing to Senior Press Officer and Head of Communications during its time as Renault. His extensive experience in motorsport communications has been instrumental in Mercedes' success, which Wolff acknowledged by noting that Lord “is a dedicated and long-serving member of our organisation who has played an important part in the team becoming the most successful of the modern era.”

This structural alignment, according to Wolff, “ensures our leadership group can focus fully on the areas where they can add the greatest value and is optimised to meet the demands of a rapidly growing sport.” The move underscores Mercedes' commitment to adapting to the evolving landscape of Formula 1.
