Travis Kelce buys 120-year-old Ohio mansion with Taylor Swift-worthy history
Travis Kelce has reportedly added one of Ohio’s most storied homes to his property portfolio, purchasing Moyenage, a historic mansion in Bratenahl overlooking Lake Erie.
A grand Lake Erie estate
According to reports cited by News 5 Cleveland, the Kansas City Chiefs star paid $5.35 million for the property in March 2026. The reported sale came roughly four months before his July wedding to Taylor Swift and was described by the property’s listing agents as the highest recorded home sale in Bratenahl.
Set on 3.5 acres, Moyenage is an approximately 21,000-square-foot Elizabethan Tudor mansion built in 1904. The estate includes eight bedrooms, 11 bathrooms and a gatehouse, with interiors known for elaborate woodwork, carved lions, leaded-glass doors and an observatory featuring amber-glass skylights.
A century of notable owners
The mansion was first owned by Morse and his wife, Seville Samantha Hanna Pickands. Its name, Moyenage, comes from a French term associated with medieval times, reflecting the property’s Tudor-inspired design.
Architectural details include beamed ceilings, intricate plasterwork, hand-carved mouldings and a black-walnut double staircase decorated with carved lions. In 1928, the home was purchased by George A. Martin, who later became president of Sherwin-Williams. Martin lived there until his death in 1944.
Moyenage was later associated with James H. Rand III, an inventor and scientist whose career included wartime work with the U.S. Office of Strategic Services. Rand also established a laboratory in the estate’s former gardener’s cottage across the street.
When the mansion appeared on television
The property also has a connection to television history. In 1962, its entry hall, living room, dining room and bedroom were used in the filming of Every Father’s Daughter, an episode of the CBS series Route 66 that aired in November of that year.
A home with a Taylor Swift connection
The mansion’s layered history has prompted comparisons with Taylor Swift’s interest in grand homes and the stories of their former owners. Her song The Last Great American Dynasty recounts the history of Rebekah Harkness, the socialite who once owned Swift’s Rhode Island mansion.
Like the house described in Swift’s song, Moyenage carries a long record of wealth, ambition and changing ownership. Its past includes Cleveland-area industrial and business figures, a major corporate executive, a scientist-inventor and a brief appearance on network television.
A return to Kelce’s Ohio roots
Bratenahl lies just east of Cleveland, near the area where Travis Kelce and his brother Jason Kelce grew up. The village is known for historic waterfront properties and has attracted prominent businesspeople and celebrities seeking privacy.
After more than 120 years of ownership changes, Moyenage now begins a new chapter connected to Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift—adding two globally recognised names to an already remarkable house history.
