Paris Saint-Germain head coach Luis Enrique has welcomed the arrival of Ferran Torres at the club, hailing the Spaniard as a "world-class player" who will strengthen his squad as they chase yet another trophy.

The 26-year-old completed a €50 million transfer from Barcelona on Saturday, becoming PSG's fourth signing of the summer following the arrivals of Maghnes Akliouche, Lucas Digne, and Khalil Ayari. Torres, who famously scored the winning goal for Spain in the 2026 World Cup final, has already taken part in training ahead of Sunday's Trophee des Champions clash against Lens.

Luis Enrique, who knows Torres well from their time together with the Spanish national team, was effusive in his praise for the versatile forward and emphasised the importance of continuously evolving the squad.

"I'm happy about Ferran Torres' arrival. We're improving our team," Enrique said. "We have to be open to every possibility we have, and Ferran is a world-class player. We know him very well. He'll adapt to what we want; he can play anywhere across the front line. It's important to have this type of player back."

"We're continuing to work with Luis Campos to improve the team. We must always remember that the arrival of new players gives us a different mindset. We have to change things to continue winning."

Super Cup Success and Trophy Ambitions

PSG have already tasted silverware in the 2026-27 campaign, defeating Aston Villa 2-1 in the Super Cup. Desire Doue was the star of that match, assisting Khvicha Kvaratskhelia's opener before scoring the winner himself, despite not featuring in any pre-season games following his return from an extended break.

The capital club can add another trophy to their cabinet when they face Lens in the Trophee des Champions on Sunday, though Enrique expects a stern challenge.

"A final isn't like any other match," the PSG boss added. "If you score, the opponent has nothing to lose and attacks. So it's a different kind of match. Finals are often open. We're going to play in a stadium with a great atmosphere and try to turn that to our advantage. We're not in our usual physical and technical shape, but we're aiming to win this game."

Enrique also confirmed that Fabian Ruiz, Ousmane Dembele, and Bradley Barcola have returned to the squad following their extended holidays, bolstering his options for the final.

Lens Pose Tough Challenge Under Toppmoller

Standing in PSG's way are a Lens side who enjoyed a remarkable 2025-26 campaign, finishing second in Ligue 1 and winning their maiden Coupe de France title with a 3-1 victory over Nice in the final.

Lens underwent a change in the dugout during the off-season, with head coach Pierre Sage departing for Crystal Palace. Former Eintracht Frankfurt boss Dino Toppmoller has been tasked with building on last season's success and will be eager to begin his tenure with a trophy.

Lens' hopes may rest heavily on the shoulders of Florian Thauvin, who was the only Lens player last season to directly contribute to 10+ goals and 10+ assists, registering 24 direct goal involvements (14 goals, 10 assists). The experienced winger also scored and assisted in the Coupe de France final triumph over Nice.

PSG Favourites Despite Lens' Resurgence

PSG have become synonymous with the Trophee des Champions, winning 12 of the last 13 editions of the competition. The only exception came in 2021, when Lille clinched a 1-0 victory over Mauricio Pochettino's PSG.

According to OPTA's win probability, PSG are strong favourites to add to their haul:
