Dortmund move to the front of the queue

Borussia Dortmund have emerged as the leading contenders to sign Barcelona defender Héctor Fort before the summer transfer window closes.

The German club have already held talks over a possible deal and are currently considered the best-positioned suitor, according to transfer-market insider Matteo Moretto. “Borussia Dortmund have already held talks for Héctor Fort and are currently the best-positioned club,” Moretto reported.

Fort expected to leave Barcelona

Fort is widely expected to depart Barcelona after being informed by Hansi Flick and his coaching staff that he does not feature in their plans for the upcoming campaign. The full-back has accepted that his immediate future is likely to lie away from Catalonia.

A number of clubs across Europe have been linked with the versatile defender, whose technical ability, attacking contribution and potential have attracted interest. While Fort would reportedly view a move to the Premier League positively, Dortmund are currently showing the most concrete interest.

“The youngster would look favourably on a move to the Premier League, but, as things stand, Borussia are the club showing the most concrete interest,” Moretto added.
