Is Virat Kohli the greatest white-ball batter of all time? Stumped panel weighs the record-breaker

Kohli extends his record as the debate rages

Has Virat Kohli cemented his status as the finest men's white-ball batter in history? That was the question debated on BBC's Stumped programme after the India superstar extended his record of ODI centuries to 55.

Kohli also became only the second player, after Sachin Tendulkar, to reach 15,000 runs in 50-over cricket — and he reached the landmark quicker than the man widely known as the "Little Master".

The panel, featuring Alison Mitchell, Jim Maxwell and Sunil Gupta, weighed Kohli's numbers against the legends of the game as they considered whether his white-ball record now stands alone at the top of the sport.

"He recently extended his record of ODI centuries to 55 and is the second player, after Sachin Tendulkar, to score 15,000 runs in 50 over cricket but did it quicker than the little master," the programme noted, framing the case for Kohli's claims to the title.
