LAFC sack head coach Marc Dos Santos after dismal run of one win in 10 MLS games

Los Angeles FC have parted ways with head coach Marc Dos Santos following a prolonged slump in Major League Soccer that has put their postseason positioning in jeopardy.

Dos Santos took the reins in December 2025 following a spell as an assistant under previous manager Steve Cherundolo. However, his tenure at the helm has lasted just 38 matches across all competitions after managing only one victory in their last 10 league outings (five draws, four defeats).

Lowest Win Percentage in Club History

The 49-year-old tactician departs with a record of 17 wins, 11 draws, and 10 losses. His 44.7% win rate stands as the lowest recorded by any permanent LAFC head coach since the franchise made its MLS debut in 2018, trailing both Cherundolo (53.9%) and inaugural manager Bob Bradley (47.2%).

Despite enjoying a bright start to the campaign, LAFC's recent slide has seen them drop to sixth place in the Western Conference. With nine points separating them from conference leaders Vancouver Whitecaps and just five points keeping them ahead of rivals LA Galaxy in eighth, the club faced the realistic threat of forfeiting home-field advantage for the upcoming playoffs.

Playoff Push on the Horizon

With only six fixtures remaining in the regular season, the club hierarchy opted to make an immediate change in the dugout.

“Marc has given a great deal to this club over the years, and we are grateful for his commitment, care and contributions to LAFC. We wish Marc and his family all the best moving forward,” said John Thorrington, LAFC's president of soccer operations.

LAFC have not yet announced an interim successor. Following the international break, the Black and Gold return to action with consecutive home matches against Vancouver and Austin FC before traveling to face New York City FC.
