Burnley stand one match from unwanted English home-win record
Burnley face a place in the record books for the wrong reason
Burnley are one match away from setting an unwanted English football record. They have gone 21 consecutive league games without a win at Turf Moor and will move clear of the existing mark if they fail to beat Portsmouth in their next home fixture, scheduled for Saturday, 31 October.

Their last home league victory came on 18 October 2025, when they beat Leeds United 2-0 in the Premier League. Since then, Burnley have drawn 10 and lost 11 of their 21 league matches at Turf Moor: 15 came in the Premier League last season and the latest six in the Championship this season.
Sheffield Wednesday currently hold the record among clubs in England’s top four divisions, with a 376-day spell without a home league win between April 2025 and May 2026. Burnley’s meeting with Portsmouth falls 377 days after their win over Leeds. The comparison counts clubs that endured the run while competing in one of the top four leagues, excluding teams that left the English Football League and later returned.
Cup wins have not ended the league drought
Burnley have recorded home cup results during the run. They beat Millwall in the FA Cup third round in January 2026, before losing to Mansfield Town in the next round. In the Carabao Cup first round this season, they overcame Notts County on penalties.
A win against Portsmouth would halt the league sequence and spare Burnley the outright record; any other result would extend their home league winless run.
