Joao Pedro signs new Chelsea contract to keep him at Stamford Bridge until 2034

Chelsea tie down Brazilian star with bumper new deal

Joao Pedro has committed his long-term future to Chelsea after signing a new contract that keeps him at Stamford Bridge until June 2034.

The Brazilian joined Chelsea from Brighton last year in a deal worth a reported £55m, plus £5m in add-ons. His original agreement ran through to 2032 with the option for a further year, but the new deal ensures he will remain a Blue for eight more years.

Reports suggest the fresh terms still run through to 2032 but with the option of two further years, with Chelsea announcing it as an eight-year contract.

Joao Pedro in Chelsea kit

"I am very happy to sign a new contract with Chelsea," Joao Pedro said. "I always dreamed of playing for a big club, and it means a lot to me to give my long-term commitment to this club. Chelsea has a long tradition of winning, and it has big ambitions for the future.

"Everyone is very excited for this season. We know we can achieve a lot of things; we have a great team, and we have a coach who wants to win and has won already."

A debut campaign to remember

Joao Pedro impressed in his debut campaign, winning the Club World Cup last summer before going on to score 23 goals in all competitions from the start of that tournament.

Among Premier League players, only Erling Haaland (41) and Igor Thiago (25) scored more goals than Joao Pedro (23) in 2025-26 across all competitions. The Brazilian also registered six assists.

Named Chelsea supporters' Player of the Season and finishing as the club's highest scorer, Joao Pedro had been linked with a move to Barcelona this transfer window — but the new contract puts an end to any speculation over his future.

His form did not, however, earn him a call-up to Carlo Ancelotti's World Cup squad.
