Toto Wolff has admitted Mercedes are unable to quickly respond to McLaren and Ferrari's development surge because the championship leaders simply "haven't got the money" to bring upgrades as frequently as their rivals.
Mercedes continue to lead both the drivers' and the constructors' championships and extended those leads across the Dutch Grand Prix Sprint weekend, but their early season dominance has been steadily eroded. After their first six rounds, the team were winning the first six races of F1's new rules era, but have won only two of the last six — the same number as Ferrari and McLaren.
