‘Drishyam 3’ pulls Georgekutty back into the past as Hindi finale takes a different route
Georgekutty’s past returns in ‘Drishyam 3’
Spoiler warning: The reported plot details below reveal major developments from the Malayalam franchise’s third chapter.
Five years after the events of Drishyam 2, Georgekutty appears to have built a relatively stable life with his family. That peace is threatened when the circumstances surrounding Varun’s disappearance attract fresh attention, reopening questions that Georgekutty has spent years trying to keep buried.
The old case has reportedly become the basis for a film, prompting journalists and former police officials to re-examine what happened. As the investigation draws renewed scrutiny, Georgekutty faces the possibility that the secrets he protected could finally resurface.
Anju is drawn into a new conspiracy
The danger becomes more personal when Georgekutty’s daughter Anju is linked to a new situation that may connect her to the old case. A marriage proposal involving Avira, a businessman based in the United Arab Emirates, reportedly becomes central to the conspiracy.
According to the reported storyline, an incident is engineered to make Anju appear responsible for Avira’s death while also creating links to the events surrounding Varun. Rani notices suspicious activity around the family’s plantation, while Georgekutty discovers that a pit has been refilled—another sign that someone may be trying to uncover evidence connected to the past.
With the threat closing in, Georgekutty once again attempts to protect his family and prevent the truth about Varun from coming to light.
Mohanlal returns as Georgekutty
Drishyam 3: The Past Never Stays Silent is written and directed by Jeethu Joseph, with Mohanlal reprising the role of Georgekutty. Meena, Ansiba Hassan, Esther Anil, Kalabhavan Shajon, Siddique, Murali Gopy and Asha Sharath are also reported to be part of the cast.
The Malayalam film has reportedly earned around Rs 239 crore worldwide, according to Sacnilk, which would make it the highest-grossing instalment in the franchise based on the cited figures.
Ajay Devgn’s Hindi film is expected to tell a different story
The Hindi and Malayalam franchises are set to diverge in their third chapters. While the Malayalam series continues Georgekutty’s story, Ajay Devgn’s Drishyam: The Conclusion is reported to feature an original narrative rather than directly adapting the events of the Malayalam third film.
Devgn returns as Vijay Salgaonkar in the Hindi film, alongside Tabu, Shriya Saran, Jaideep Ahlawat, Rajat Kapoor, Prakash Raj, Ishita Dutta and Mrunal Jadhav. Directed by Abhishek Pathak, the film is scheduled to arrive in cinemas on October 2, 2026.
As a result, viewers familiar with Georgekutty’s latest chapter should not assume that Vijay Salgaonkar’s final story will follow the same chain of events.
