Multiple Chelsea co-owners explore sale of stakes to Clearlake Capital
Multiple co-owners of Chelsea Football Club are actively exploring the sale of their ownership stakes to majority shareholder Clearlake Capital, according to recent reports.

The Premier League club was taken over in May 2022 by the BlueCo consortium following Roman Abramovich's departure. The consortium is spearheaded by private equity firm Clearlake Capital—co-founded by Behdad Eghbali and José E. Feliciano—alongside American businessman Todd Boehly, Swiss billionaire Hansjörg Wyss, and Guggenheim Partners CEO Mark Walter.
Shifting Boardroom Dynamics
Clearlake Capital currently holds the majority shareholding in Chelsea, controlling approximately 61.5% of the club, with Boehly, Wyss, and Walter holding equal splits of the remaining 38.5% stake. Recent developments suggest discussions regarding restructuring the ownership hierarchy at Stamford Bridge have gathered pace.
Reports indicate that certain minority partners are considering divesting their positions, which could allow Clearlake Capital to consolidate further control over the West London club. The ownership group has invested heavily in player recruitment, club infrastructure, and executive leadership since their arrival, and any further consolidation by Clearlake would mark another major chapter in Chelsea's post-takeover evolution.
