Merino says Arsenal can win the quadruple after Lille win
Merino backs Arsenal to chase the quadruple
Mikel Merino has outlined his and Arsenal's desire "to win everything" this season after the Gunners' strong start to their 2026-27 campaign continued on Tuesday. Arsenal have already won the Community Shield this season, and the Spaniard believes the club can win all four trophies available to them.

Lille beaten in Champions League
Arsenal beat Lille 3-0 to make it two wins from two in the Champions League, with Jurrien Timber, Eberechi Eze and Bukayo Saka all on target at the Emirates Stadium. The Gunners have now won their last 14 Champions League group stage/league phase games, while also keeping nine clean sheets during that run.
Arteta's side also bounced back from a 3-0 defeat to Brighton before the international break with a hard-fought 2-1 win over Leeds United in the Premier League. They have won 14 of their last 17 Premier League games, nine of those by a one-goal margin, and are just three points behind leaders Manchester City.
Cup draws and last season's disappointment
League Two side Fleetwood Town are Arsenal's opponents in the last 16 of the EFL Cup, while their FA Cup campaign begins in January next year.
Merino was part of the side that won the Premier League but also lost the Champions League and EFL Cup finals, while a quarter-final exit to Southampton in the FA Cup meant Arsenal lifted just one piece of silverware in 2025-26.
"Absolutely. This is the mentality."
Speaking to Sky Sports after the Lille win, Merino said: "It's an unbelievable run. We know we're making history in the competition. At the same time, we know how difficult it is to win games. We keep a lot of value and credit in the team for what we're doing.
"The goal is to win the Champions League, the Premier League, to win everything. That's what the manager wants. That's what the fans want. That's what we as players want as well."
Asked whether winning all four trophies was possible, Merino replied: "Absolutely. This is the mentality. This is the aim. We were so, so close last season and that proved to us, we are ready for it. Now it's about details, being present and ready at the right moments. And we believe that."
The last time Arsenal won more than one trophy in the same season (excluding the Community Shield) was in 2001-02, when they lifted the Premier League and the FA Cup.
