Kohli's Blistering 139 Powers India to Eight-Wicket Win Over West Indies in First ODI
India cruised to an emphatic eight-wicket victory over West Indies in the first One Day International at the Sports Hub International Cricket Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram on Sunday, chasing down 296 with more than eight overs to spare.

Yadav's four wrecks West Indies innings
Having won the toss and chosen to field, India's bowlers shared the honours after West Indies posted 295 for 7 from their 50 overs. Kuldeep Yadav was outstanding with 4 for 40 from his ten overs, removing John Campbell (62), Justin Greaves (101), Shai Hope (12) and Jewel Andrew for a duck. Prasidh Krishna chipped in with 2 for 60.
Greaves anchored the innings with a patient century off 108 balls, featuring 12 boundaries, while Campbell provided early impetus with a 60-ball 62. Amir Jangoo added late fireworks with an unbeaten 58 from just 43 deliveries, striking seven fours and a six.
Kohli masterclass seals the chase
India's reply was powered by an unforgettable unbeaten 139 from Virat Kohli, who smoked 10 fours and 9 sixes in a 88-ball blitz at a strike rate of 157.95. Captain Shubman Gill made 110 from 108 balls, sharing a dominant 151-run second-wicket stand with Kohli before falling to Roston Chase. Rohit Sharma's brisk 32 had earlier been ended by Alzarri Joseph, and Ruturaj Gaikwad (13 not out) joined Kohli to finish the job at 300 for 2 in 41.4 overs.
Series outlook
The win hands India a 1-0 lead in the Men's One Day International Series. West Indies will look to regroup quickly, with captain Shai Hope searching for answers from a bowling attack that leaked freely — Alzarri Joseph's 1 for 81 from nine overs proving the most expensive.
