England sweep Sri Lanka 3-0 to replace India at the top of T20I rankings

England have completed a 3-0 sweep of Sri Lanka in their T20I series — and the whitewash has come with a handsome bonus, taking England above India to the top of the ICC men's T20I team rankings.

England had already wrapped up the series in the second T20I, when Tom Banton's blistering fifty powered them to a six-wicket win and an unassailable 2-0 lead. They then finished the job in the third match to complete the clean sweep.

The 3-0 result shook up the ICC T20I team chart, with England replacing India at the summit of the rankings. With the T20 World Cup on the horizon, a statement sweep and the No. 1 ranking make for the ideal platform.
