Tottenham advance in talks for Manchester City duo Savinho and Omar Marmoush
Tottenham Hotspur are in advanced talks to pull off an ambitious double swoop for Manchester City duo Savinho and Omar Marmoush as manager Roberto De Zerbi moves to overhaul his attacking options.

While neither deal is fully finalized, discussions between the two Premier League clubs are progressing rapidly. Tottenham have long held an interest in Savinho, having previously pursued the 22-year-old Brazilian winger last summer before he signed a long-term contract extension at the Etihad Stadium. Savinho was notably omitted from Enzo Maresca’s 21-man matchday squad for City’s 3-0 Community Shield defeat against Arsenal.
Meanwhile, 27-year-old forward Marmoush—who came off the bench for Erling Haaland during the Community Shield—is also viewed as likely to depart Manchester this window in search of regular starting minutes. The Egypt international joined City from Eintracht Frankfurt in January 2025 after a blistering run of 37 goals in 67 appearances in Germany, but has found opportunities limited in a squad headlined by Haaland.
Delivering De Zerbi’s ‘Bomba’
The potential double signing arrives just weeks after De Zerbi promised supporters a surprise “bomba” addition before the window closes. Tottenham have already spent £229.5 million this summer on Sandro Tonali, Mateus Fernandes, and Jan Paul van Hecke, alongside securing free transfers for Andy Robertson, Marcos Senesi, and Martin Dubravka.
Savinho’s versatility out wide would add dynamism and reunite him with Xavi Simons, with whom he previously played at PSV Eindhoven during the 2022-23 campaign. Marmoush’s arrival would address pressing concerns at center-forward, where Dominic Solanke has battled recurring injury issues and Richarlison enters the final year of his contract.
Financial Flexibility Fuels Spurs' Spending
Tottenham's aggressive spending spree has been supported by significant backing from majority owner ENIC and lucrative player departures. Spurs generated substantial funds through the £46 million sale of defender Luka Vuskovic to Brighton, Brennan Johnson’s £35 million switch to Crystal Palace, and Cristian Romero’s £34.1 million transfer to Atletico Madrid.
Furthermore, Tottenham's historically low wage-to-turnover ratio provides the club with ample headroom under financial regulations, allowing them to pursue high-profile additions to solidify their push for Champions League qualification.
