Al-Qadsiah seal transfer of Tijjani Reijnders from Manchester City

Saudi Pro League side Al-Qadsiah have completed the signing of midfielder Tijjani Reijnders from Manchester City just one year after the Netherlands international arrived in England.

Tijjani Reijnders in action for Manchester City

Reijnders, 28, joined Manchester City from AC Milan last summer in a deal worth £46.5 million (€54.2 million). He featured 50 times across all competitions in his sole campaign under Pep Guardiola, starting 34 matches and contributing seven goals alongside seven assists.

Although an unused substitute in both finals, Reijnders collected winners' medals in both the FA Cup and the EFL Cup during his season in Manchester.

Reijnders bids farewell

Speaking to Manchester City's official website following confirmation of his move, the Dutch midfielder reflected warmly on his brief spell in the Premier League.

“I have been incredibly privileged to play for Manchester City, and I have relished every minute of my time here,” Reijnders said. “From the very moment I arrived, everyone at the club – players, coaches and staff – made me feel so welcome and a part of the Manchester City family.”

“To be part of the squad that won two such special trophies last season were both incredible experiences and achievements that I will savour forever. I may be moving on, but I will always have a special place in my heart for Manchester City.”

Al-Qadsiah's ambitious rebuild

Reijnders becomes Al-Qadsiah's second-most expensive signing in club history, behind only forward Mateo Retegui. He will play under manager Brendan Rodgers as the club aims to improve on last season’s fourth-place finish in the Saudi Pro League, where they finished nine points behind champions Al-Nassr.

Al-Qadsiah kicked off their 2026-27 domestic campaign with a 3-1 victory against Al-Shabab, with goals from Mohammed Abu Al Shamat, Julian Quinones, and Turki Al Ammar.
