Leicester City's fears of suffering back-to-back relegations have intensified after the club's unsuccessful appeal against a six-point deduction for breaching English Football League (EFL) financial regulations.

The Foxes, relegated from the Premier League last season, were handed the penalty in February for violations of financial fairness rules. Initially charged under the Premier League's Profitability and Sustainability Rules in May 2023, the case was later transferred to the EFL jurisdiction following their relegation. Despite challenging the sanction, an independent appeal board has upheld the deduction, leaving Leicester rooted in the Championship's relegation zone.

Currently sitting in 22nd place with 41 points, Leicester occupy the final relegation spot—level on points with 23rd-placed Oxford United but ahead on goal difference, and just one point behind 21st-placed Portsmouth. With only five fixtures left in the season, the pressure is mounting on the newly appointed head coach Gary Rowett, who took charge on a short-term basis in February.

Leicester's next crucial match is a home clash against Swansea City at the King Power Stadium this Saturday, marking the beginning of their final push for survival.
