Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) have faced a setback in their quest for glory as top-order batter Jacob Bethell is set to miss the upcoming IPL 2026 playoffs. Bethell sustained a left finger injury during the league stage clash against the Punjab Kings on May 17, necessitating his return to England for further treatment.

Bethell's contribution this season included seven appearances, where he accumulated a total of 96 runs. The injury already forced him to miss RCB's final league stage fixture against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in Hyderabad, a game where Venkatesh Iyer stepped up with an impressive 44 off 19 balls.

The injury doesn't just impact his IPL campaign but potentially his international commitments as well. According to a release from the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB), Bethell will be monitored by the England Men's medical team upon his return.
