Demichelis apologises to Leipzig fans after 6-1 Bayern rout
Demichelis accepts blame for humiliating Munich collapse
RB Leipzig’s struggles on the road continued on Saturday as they suffered a humiliating 6-1 defeat to Bayern Munich, extending their losing streak away from home to four games in four attempts this season.
Coming after back-to-back home wins, the manner of the loss left coach Martin Demichelis deeply disappointed.
"We owe our fans an apology. You can lose in Munich, but not like that. It's a tough defeat to take. As the coach, I'm more disappointed than anyone. We were too passive without the ball and offered nothing when we had possession. We looked like a completely different team to the one we've seen in the last two games," Demichelis said.
Demichelis made two substitutions at the interval after his side went into the break trailing 3-0, but admitted he could have made all five changes available to him.
"We could have made five substitutions at half-time. But this isn't about individual players – it's about the team as a whole. You can criticise me, but please don't single out individual players."
