Formula 1 Welcomes Back Portuguese Grand Prix as Paddock Celebrates Return

Formula 1's return to Portugal has rekindled fond memories across the motorsport world, with veteran paddock journalist David Tremayne expressing his delight at the event returning to the premier racing calendar.

Portuguese Grand Prix historic track atmosphere

Reflecting on earlier eras of the Portuguese Grand Prix, Tremayne recalled the historic atmosphere and distinctive character when the race was hosted at Estoril, alongside unusual paddock encounters.

"I always liked the Portuguese Grand Prix, in the days when it was run at Estoril," Tremayne noted. "I thought that was a pretty cool track with a great ambiance about the place – though it wasn’t quite so cool when I saw a snake in the paddock. It was not far from the press room – perhaps it thought it was part of the group my pal Perry McCarthy likes to call ‘reptiles’ – but it was clearly far more frightened of us, and eventually slithered off somewhere."

The return of the Portuguese Grand Prix continues a trend of iconic European venues capturing the enthusiasm of teams, drivers, and long-time paddock personnel as Formula 1 blends modern spectacles with celebrated heritage circuits.
