Fermín López recreates Alejandro Grimaldo’s golf-swing celebration in Spain training

Barcelona midfielder Fermín López has gone viral after recreating Alejandro Grimaldo’s golf-swing celebration during Spain training.

Fermín returned to the national-team setup earlier this week after missing Spain’s triumphant World Cup campaign because of injury. His strong start to the season with Barcelona earned him an immediate recall from manager Luis de la Fuente.

During Wednesday morning’s session, held as Spain prepare for a Nations League meeting with England, Fermín scored in a training drill. He then turned towards his teammates and marked the goal with a golf-swing gesture.

The celebration echoed the one used by Alejandro Grimaldo after he opened the scoring in Atlético’s derby victory over Real Madrid at the weekend. In that match, Grimaldo’s gesture was directed at Real Madrid players Dean Huijsen and Marc Cucurella.

The light-hearted moment quickly spread across Spanish social media, adding an entertaining subplot to Spain’s preparations for their upcoming Nations League showdown.
